This is Mark, Maureen is busy combing her hair, so I'm here to tell you there are tinysides available!

I put up the pictures all by myself. See them at big game books.

Tinysides!

Here is what 300+ tinysides look like. Tinysides #5 is well into production now, so the first set should be released sometime this weekend. Huzzah! 6-10 are also on their way, with the majority of the covers designed, the text approved by the authors and several covers printed out, and #9 is even totally done. Rock. I carved a mysterious linoleum block for the cover of #11 earlier this week.

Getting unsolicited submissions is really interesting. Some really great stuff, some stuff that just doesn't interest me, some stuff that makes me want to take a rubber hose to the author, and lots and lots of stuff that is just way too big. When I said six pages, I meant six little pages, y'all! Like I said earlier, clarifying statements are in order.

I got my tomato perfume yesterday. I'm not sure I smell like a tomato, and I'm sure I don't smell as much like one as I would if I simply went outside and handled my tomato plants for even thirty seconds. That's a smell that stays with you all day.

I dreamt that one of the partners and I were playing soccer, mano e mano. Everyone bet on him because he has longer legs, but I elbowed him in the gut and the ref didn't see it, so I won. Now I'm thinking like a lawyer.

It hurts to append a large binder clip to your ear. I know that now.

This flickr set of Spanish pharmaceutical ads from the sixties and seventies provides ample ideas for book covers. Pretty!

My madness has taken the form of listening to Paul Simon sing "Kodachrome" over and over and over and . . .

Confidential to the fat man on the subway: I completely understand your desire to be physically absent from your own existence.

Observed: exhaustion is probably as good an altered mental state as any, poetry-writing-wise.

And so to work.

One a.m. and who's in a law firm? I'm in a law firm!

And I've had thirty-five diet cokes! Bring me interns! I'm gonna chain 'em together with paper clips and make em recite the Bill of Rights -- in Swahili!

So I didn't actually do any of the things I said I would. No photos of 200 tinysides, because my camera battery ran out and I didn't realize it until this morning. No update to the Big Game site, no forward movement on VaR.

But I am pleased to report that yesterday is over! Whoo! It kind of sucked. At least until I got home and ordered tomato-scented perfume from Etsy and watched Peewee's Playhouse. That was cool.

Tonight is going to be an all-nighter at work. I'm bringing some books to bind during the down-time. Tomorrow I will be a zombie. Oo-oo!

Here's a nice post on designing the interior of a book. Helps me to put some of the lessons I'm getting from "Elements of Typographic Style" in context.

Tonight, I'll post a picture of what 200 completed tinysides look like. Printing of Villanelles are Retarded will also begin tout-suite. Huzzah for everything. I will also update the Big Game webpage with some more info on tinyside submissions. I'm getting too many submissions of outsized poems that could not possibly fit on six 4.25x5.5 pages.

Now back to my insanely over-scheduled life.
