Things

My work account gets spam from wineries.

My grasp on gross motor skills is tenuous at best.

I have nightmares about increasing volumes of steel imports.

"The point of poetry is close and accurate observation."

No, that's the point of a lab notebook.

Awaiting the cover art for Mayport. Confused/alarmed by the possibilities. This is not a sunshiny book.

My vacation has granted me the energy to work on tinysides. Huzzah. The next batch o' five should be out sometime in October, and the November batch is ready for cover designs.

Applies to Oranges will heat up next week. In the meantime, all the wheels are turning...

You can check out an .mp3 of me reading "Sayonara, Cherry Pie" here. This recording was made last Tuesday in my parents' living room in Newport, Rhode Island. We had to do several takes because it was after dinner and there were plates and cabinets clunking about in the background. Also: seagulls.

Brother, can you spare a room?

Looking for a place to crash (e'er so lightly) in NYC on October 13. I have a late reading at the Poetry Project, and afterwards will need to slumber somewheres in the vicinity.

Home again, home again, jiggety-jig

My vacation, like all vacations, has come to an end. The evil blinky eyes of the Washington Monument have welcomed me back to our nation's capital.

The reading September 15 went well, I think, and Mark & I have developed a fun new habit of getting drunk on trains. Totally makes the time pass by.

Newport was pretty and New Englandy and thus filled with spooky crap like this:

and with funny little things like this:

Mark and I spent a day in DC and then headed down to C-Ville, where I bought my fall wardrobe. Now I am the queen of plaid. I also letterpressed some stuff in anticipation of Erica Kaufman's forthcoming Big Game chapbook and met with a (gasp) wedding planner. Now I must prepare for a new day of lawyerliness. And so to bed.
