My house is full of hippies! It smells like patchouli!

Victims of the English Language . . .

include the proprietors of the liquor store that I lunched across from yesterday. Some enterprising soul has already Flickred it for me, so that I may give you the full flavor of its madness.

Kate Greenstreet interviews PF Potvin, and he talks a bit about his new book's cover art. Hee.

Reading manga, considering: haircuts, tattoos, redecoration.

And people, I know you love NYC, but I didn't realize you loved it quite like that.

If anyone has a baby they'd like to volunteer for frightening photo projects, I've been thinking of a project involving infants clad in onesies with inappropriate, outre, defiant or offensive declarations on them. Like "Future Rapist."

Probably no one's volunteering their kid for that one, right?

Sometimes it's just one damn thing after another, isn't it?

Watching the SOU on mute last night, and railing about the close-captioned words of the President, I came up with the idea that Bush should just pack it in for the next 22 or so months, and devote the rest of his lame-duck presidency to forming a book club to rival Oprah's. Then followers of the Oprah Book Club and the Bush Book Club will form gangs of vicious book club supporters, prone to beaning members of the opposite faction over the noggins with copies of their leader's book for the month. Bush can only win if he assigns nothing but really hefty hard-bound biographies, or searching careful detailed accounts of entire wars. Otherwise the Faulkner-toting Oprahrians will knock his followers down where they stand. The can also all devise intriguing book club cheers and jeers for their opponents. If nothing else, it will amuse the rest of the nation and form a pleasingly whimsical historical footnote in an otherwise morose and stolid time.

I'm rolling feverishly through a much much much overdue set of tinysides. I started work on these in October, and then fell prey to a deep holiday funk. The new year has reinvigorated me. With any luck, tinysides 21-25 will be released early next week.

I will probably do a very short open reading period for tinysides soon, to round out Numbers 26-30. Then I will focus on my own work until sometime probably in August.

Wee!

Hot Whiskey Blog endorses erica kaufman's Censory Impulse. Need you know more? Nay, you need not. Instead of asking silly questions, open your heart and pocketbook to poems you can taste, hear, see, smell, and see, over at Big Game Books.

Also, me 'n' Shafer's Villanelles are Retarded is one of seventeen particularly kick-ass chapbooks, at least in the estimation of Mr. Matthew Thorburn. And guess what? You can buy that too at Big Game Books.

It is snowing and I am reading Thomas Pynchon's latest novel. Among other things, it involves the Archduke Franz Ferdinand playing the dozens on the South Side of Chicago during the Colombian Exposition and almost getting his ass kicked.

Pynchon writes the Archduke as a cross between Charles Nelson Reilly and The Joker.
