Ahoy, hoy!

I will be off tomorrow for a week on the briny waves. Mark, his family, and I are going to be bourgeois pigs and go on a cruise. Yes, truly we shall be first against the wall when the revolution comes! In the meantime, however, we shall float gently on the bosom of the Caribbean Sea, and sip funny drinks with umbrellas. And possibly invite skin cancer through repeated sunburns.

See you on the 29th!

If you've ordered a Calamity and are waiting on it, fear not. They are winging their way to you via U.S. mail. I also yesterday sent mail to Wales. Whee, Wales!

Unbeknownst to me, Shanna Compton recorded my reading Saturday with her devious iPod. The .mp3 is posted here, so persons flung far and wide may revel in the poetry, while I marvel at how high and squeaky my voice sounds when it's not being filtered through my skull (I sound like Marlene Dietrich from inside here . . . okay, maybe not, but still substantially deeper than on the recording).

Thanks to everybody that came out to hear me read on Saturday! Thanks also to Shafer and the Frequency Series, and to Maggie Nelson and Heidi Lynn Staples for reading with me and letting us all hear their wonderful work. I didn't faint, although I dearly wanted to, and afterwards, Mark took me out for chocolate-banana bread pudding. Mmmm.

Anyway, I still have about four copies of The Maureen Thorson Sparkletime Reader, the chapbook I put together for the reading, so the first four people to email me with their addresses will get them, free o' charge. I give the gift of poetry!
