So, for my big ol' reading on Monday with Herr Muldoon, I should have some Novelty Acts to peddle, as well as a chapbook from my latest project: the three-hour abecedarium. Last Thursday I wrote 26 poems in three hours, one for each letter of the alphabet. Yesterday, I finished designing the cover, which has an illustration for each letter. The poems:

Argonauts, Bananas, Cadillacs, Dorsal Fins, Elephantiasis, Finnegans Wake, Gin, Hangovers, Iditarod, Jalousies, Klem Kadiddlehopper, Lara's Theme, Ministers of Grace, Nutella, Optimus Prime, Panthers, Quahog, Reggae, Stem Cell Research, Theophrastus Bombastus von Hohenheim, Ulster, Vole, Wax Museum, Xena Warrior Princess, Yak, and Zanzibar.

They are short, breezy, uncomplicated poems, as befits a three-hour stretch of work. I have been revising them, but they are not repositories of great social or moral insight. They do not pretend to be anything but illustrative examples of letter-usage.

Still trying to come up with a set list for Monday. I'm about half-to-two-thirds there with:

Katey the Witch
You're Not Captain Here
And the Invitation Read: Payable on Death
The Daughter of Israel Hand
Sex With an Alligator
Them Dreary Black Hills
Monster Island Domestic Drama

I will probably throw one or two from Novelty Act in there, as well as a NaPoWriMo or two and an alphabet poem. Any druthers?

Next Monday, May 16, I'm reading at Pete's Candy Store with Paul Muldoon! And I'm taking requests . . . is there anything you'd like to hear?
